Where to Stay in Maha Sarakham: Two Hotels Checked

Maha Sarakham is a university town in the middle of Isan, and most visitors use it as a base for Phra That Na Dun to the south, the Wat Photharam murals and the museums. This page lists two hotels so you can pick one that fits your trip.

We list only two hotels, and we say so up front. We include a hotel only if it has a live official website whose text we could open and quote. Taksila Hotel and Siamtara Palace Hotel had only booking-site listings, The Bloom Hotel's domain returns a blank placeholder and Yourplace Hotel's website has expired, so none of them is here. We show no prices because rates change with date and room type, and we have not stayed at either hotel. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 19 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked.

How to choose

1. Decide whether you want the university side or the provincial hall side. HOP INN Mahasarakham says it is near Rajabhat Mahasarakham University, the Museum of Mahasarakham University and Wang Matcha Park. Phakawan Hotel's address is in Tambon Waeng Nang, the same tambon the provincial PR office gives for the provincial hall. Neither site says how far it is from the other sights, so open the map pin before you book.
2. Phra That Na Dun is about 65 km from the provincial town according to the provincial Office of Buddhism, so it is a day trip by car from either hotel. We found no hotel near Na Dun with a readable official website.
3. Most of the sights are outside the town, so a car or a driver helps. We found no public transport details on these hotel sites, so ask the hotel what it can arrange, and confirm the final rate with tax, parking and cancellation terms.
