Quick answer: where to stay in Surin?

Choose an area first, then check the live rate for your dates.

Disclosure: we are an affiliate partner of travel booking sites, but these links currently open the providers' own sites and earn us nothing yet.

Surin is a small town, and most visitors use it as a base for the elephant show, the silk villages and the Khmer temples around it. This page lists four hotels in two parts of the town so you can pick one that fits your trip.

We list only four hotels, and we say so up front. We include a hotel only if it has a live official website whose text we could open and quote. Thong Tarin Hotel's site returned no readable text, and Slive, Destino and several other hotels had only booking-site listings, so they are not here. We found no such hotel in Ban Ta Klang or Prasat Sikhoraphum, so those sights are day trips from the town. We show no prices because rates change with date and room type, and we have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 19 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether you want the town centre or the elephant show ground side. Three hotels are in the centre: Surin Majestic, Sorin Boutique and HOP INN. Martina Hotel says it is about 11 minutes (4.2 km) by car from the Surin elephant show ground.
  2. Read the distances as the hotels' own claims. Sorin says the elephant village is 50 km away and Tha Sawang silk village about 10 km. Wikivoyage puts Ban Ta Klang in Tha Tum district about 60 km from Surin. Treat every figure as a hint and open the map pin before you book.
  3. Most of the sights are outside the town, so a car or a driver helps. We found no public transport details on these hotel sites, so ask the hotel what it can arrange, and confirm the final rate with tax, parking and cancellation terms.

Train, bus or drive to the town; HOP INN says it is close to the market and the railway station

Three hotels on this list are in the centre. Surin Majestic lists a pool and a restaurant, Sorin Boutique is a four-story boutique hotel with a conference room, and HOP INN Surin is the budget choice close to the market and the railway station. Wikivoyage says most journeys in the central area can be made on foot, with samlors and tuk-tuks for longer hops.

Choose it if: You want a base in town, on foot to the market, and day trips to the silk villages or temples.

Skip it if: The elephant show is your main plan and you want a shorter drive to the show ground.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume the elephant village is close; Sorin's site puts it 50 km away.

Drive; the hotel's own site lists its phone and the show-ground time but no street address

One hotel on this list is on this side. Martina Hotel Surin's own site lists Superior, Deluxe and V.I.P. rooms, meeting and seminar rooms and a restaurant page, and says it is about 11 minutes (4.2 km) by car to the Surin elephant show ground. Its home page shows no prices and no street address.

Choose it if: You are coming for the elephant show, or you need meeting rooms and a larger hotel.

Skip it if: You want to walk to the market and the railway station.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume it is walkable to the centre; its home page gives no street address, so check the map pin.

Day trips and planning from Surin

We have no registered tour listing for Surin yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search, which currently earns us nothing, and results may be limited. Ask your hotel first, since some arrange day trips themselves.

Getting to Surin

Most visitors reach Surin by train, bus or car; Wikipedia gives the distance from Bangkok as 434 km. We have not recorded 12Go departures for this route, so check the operator, departure point and last service before you book. Our Surin guide covers the sights and how to get around.

Affiliate disclosure: these links may earn us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we write.

Before you book

  • Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
  • Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
  • If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
  • Surin Majestic's site still shows placeholder text and an event dated 2016, so confirm availability and rate with the hotel before you plan around it.
  • HOP INN's check-in times are chain-wide wording for HOP INN Thailand, not specific to the Surin branch.
  • Martina's home page shows no street address, so open the map pin to see exactly where it is.

FAQ

Where should first-time visitors stay in Surin?

Stay in the town centre if you want the market, the railway station and an easy base: Surin Majestic, Sorin Boutique and HOP INN are there. Choose Martina if the elephant show is your main plan. The cards show what each hotel says on its own site.

Is there a hotel at Ban Ta Klang elephant village?

We did not find one with a live official website, so none is listed. Wikivoyage puts Ban Ta Klang in Tha Tum district about 60 km from Surin, and Sorin's own site calls the elephant village 50 km from the hotel. Plan it as a day trip and check the map pin.

Is there a hotel at Prasat Sikhoraphum?

We found no hotel there with a readable official website. Wikivoyage lists Prasat Sikhoraphum among the temple ruins to visit around Surin, so treat it as a day trip from the town.

Which hotels are close to the railway station?

HOP INN Surin says it is on Soi Poi Tang Ko, close to the market and the railway station. The other three hotels do not give a station distance on their sites.

Which hotel suits business or meetings?

Martina lists meeting and seminar rooms, with theatre style seating about 80 people. Sorin mentions a medium-size conference room and a business room, and Surin Majestic has a meeting and events page.

Why are only four hotels listed?

We only list hotels whose own website we could open and quote. Thong Tarin Hotel's site returned no readable text to our checker, and Slive, Destino and other hotels had only booking-site listings. This is a checked list, not a complete one.

Is Surin a day trip or an overnight stay?

Wikipedia gives the distance from Bangkok to Surin city as 434 km, so most visitors stay at least one night. An overnight stay lets you see the elephant show and a temple or silk village without a long drive back.
