Quick answer: where to stay in Chai Nat?

Choose an area first, then check the live rate for your dates.

Disclosure: we are an affiliate partner of travel booking sites, but these links currently open the providers' own sites and earn us nothing yet.

Chai Nat is a small river province that many people drive through on the way north, and most visitors use the town as a base for the bird park, the temples, the museum and the Chao Phraya Dam. This page lists four places to stay in two parts of the province so you can pick one that fits your trip.

We list only four, and we say so up front. We include a place only if it has a live official website whose text we could open and quote. The hotel list kept by the provincial office mostly points to Facebook pages or booking-site listings, so those places are not here. We found no such site for Sapphaya, Sankhaburi or the bird park area, so those sights are day trips. We show no prices because rates change with date and room type, and we have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 19 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked.

How to choose

  1. Decide between the town and Hankha. Three places are in or by the town: Chaophaya Thara Riverside, Chainat Grand and Suwanna Riverside. Baan Phuang Khram is in the centre of Hankha district.
  2. Read the descriptions as the hotels' own claims. Chaophaya Thara says some rooms have a river-view balcony, and its site shows room sizes from 22 to 65 square metres. Suwanna says its pool is closed indefinitely, and Chainat Grand is on a main road. Treat every figure as a hint and open the map pin before you book.
  3. Public transport inside the province is very limited, according to Wikivoyage, so a car or a hired driver helps. We found no transport details on these hotel sites, so ask what the hotel can arrange, and confirm the final rate with tax, parking and cancellation terms.

Three hotels on this list are in or by the town. Chaophaya Thara Riverside says it is in Mueang Chai Nat near the Chao Phraya River, has a 24-hour front desk, complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi, and a riverside restaurant open daily 10:00 to 22:00. Chainat Grand says it is on a main road in the centre of the city and has 63 rooms and parking. Suwanna Riverside says it is on the river bank, with a riverside restaurant and a boat that carries up to 200 passengers, but its facilities page still carries a notice that the pool is closed.

Choose it if: You want a base near the river, the bird park and the town sights, and you will use a car or a hired driver.

Skip it if: Your plan is Sankhaburi, Hankha or the far north of the province and you want a shorter drive in the morning.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume Suwanna's pool is open; its own site says closed indefinitely, and the home page promotion expired in March 2022.

One resort on this list is in Hankha. Baan Phuang Khram's own Thai site says it is in the centre of Hankha district, has 19 rooms of two types (single bed and twin bed) and that day trips out and back to nearby sights are easy. The site has no facilities list, so ask about breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking.

Choose it if: You are driving, want a quiet base and plan Hankha, the swamp island and Suphan Buri sights.

Skip it if: You rely on buses or want the bird park and town sights close by.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume buses reach the door; the site gives no transport details, and Wikivoyage says public transport in the province is very limited.

Hand-picked places to stay

Examples of established Chai Nat hotels, spread across areas and budget bands. Every fact below was checked against the hotel's own website or a reputable source on 2026-10-19 and links to that source. We have not stayed at these places and give no ratings; we show no prices because rates change daily. The band is the property class (hostel or guesthouse, mid-range, upscale), not a live price.

Day trips and planning from Chai Nat

We have no registered tour listing for Chai Nat yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search. It is an affiliate link: if you book through it we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and results may be limited. Ask your hotel first, since the sights are spread out and some hotels arrange cars or boats themselves.

Disclosure: we are an affiliate partner of travel booking sites, but these links currently open the providers' own sites and earn us nothing yet.

Getting to Chai Nat

Most visitors reach Chai Nat by car or by bus; Wikivoyage gives the distance from Bangkok as 194 km and says public transport inside the province is very limited. A 12Go page we opened on 16 October 2026 showed bus and taxi departures but no train. Check the operator, pick-up point and last service before you book. Our Chai Nat guide covers the sights and how to get around.

Before you book

  • Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
  • Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
  • If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
  • Suwanna Riverside's facilities page says the swimming pool is closed indefinitely, and its home page still shows a promotion valid until March 2022, so confirm the pool, the boat and the rate with the resort.
  • Chainat Grand's site is a standard hotel template with room lists and facilities only, and it faces a main road, so ask about noise.
  • Baan Phuang Khram's site is in Thai and lists only two bed types, so ask about breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking.

FAQ

Where should first-time visitors stay in Chai Nat?

Stay in the town riverside area if you want the bird park, Wat Phra Borommathat, the museum and the dam close by: Chaophaya Thara Riverside, Chainat Grand and Suwanna Riverside are there. Choose Baan Phuang Khram if you are driving and plan Hankha and Suphan Buri sights. The cards show what each hotel says on its own site.

Is there a hotel at the Chao Phraya Dam?

Our guide records an old note on a TAT page saying the dam has 19 rooms for rent, but we could not confirm it with the dam operator, so no place at the dam is listed. Treat the dam as a short drive from the town and check the map pin.

Is there a hotel at the bird park?

We found no hotel there with a readable official website. Chainat Grand's own site lists the bird park among nearby attractions, so a town hotel is the practical base.

Which hotel has a river view?

Chaophaya Thara Riverside says some rooms have a balcony with a river view, and Suwanna Riverside says it is on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Ask the hotel which room has the river view before you book.

Is the pool at Suwanna Riverside open?

Its own facilities page says the swimming pool is closed indefinitely, in a Thai notice that looks like a Covid-era one. Confirm with the resort before you plan around it.

Why are only four places listed?

We only list places whose own website we could open and quote. The provincial hotel list mostly points to Facebook pages or booking-site listings. This is a checked list, not a complete one.

Is Chai Nat a day trip or an overnight stay?

Wikivoyage gives the distance from Bangkok to the town as 194 km. You can do the town sights in a day from Bangkok if you drive, but Sankhaburi and Hankha add more driving, so many visitors stay one night.
