Korat is a big, spread-out city, so where you sleep decides how much you walk and how much you drive. The old city around the Thao Suranari (Ya Mo) monument and Chumphon Gate has the sights and the night markets. Mittraphap Road (Highway 2) carries the big malls, Terminal 21 and Central Korat, and several larger hotels. A few budget hotels sit on the city edge. This page compares those three areas. It covers the city only; for Khao Yai and the Pak Chong side of the province, use our Khao Yai stay page.

Use the quick answer above, then the area table. We show no hotel prices because rates change with date and room type, and the booking buttons open a search for your own dates. We have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 17 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked. Facts we could not re-find on the site were removed. Some well-known Korat hotels, including Sima Thani, have no official page our checker could read, so this is a checked list, not a complete one (see the FAQ).

How to choose

  1. Decide what you want to be near. If it is the Ya Mo monument, Chumphon Gate and the old streets, look at Korat Hotel and the two HOP INN hotels, which name those places on their own sites. If it is the malls, look at Centara Korat (next to Central Korat) or Centre Point (connected to Terminal 21). If you only need a cheap room with parking and have a car, the B2 hotels fit.
  2. Check the distances the hotels give. They differ a lot: Fortune Hotel lists the Thao Suranari monument at 2.5 km, B2 Korat Boutique & Budget at 5.0 km, B2 Night Market at 9 km and B2 Korat Premier at 16.0 km. Centara lists the train station at 5.7 km. So treat the city as a place where a taxi or your own car is normal, even if your hotel says it is central.
  3. Plan the day trips before you book. Centara's contact page lists Phimai Historical Park at 60 km and Khao Yai National Park at 102 km. Korat works as a base for Phimai; for Khao Yai it is usually better to sleep on the Pak Chong side (see our Khao Yai stay page). Confirm the final rate with tax, parking and cancellation terms.

Train or bus into the city, then a taxi; HOP INN City Center says the station is nearby

Three hotels on this list are in or near the old city. Korat Hotel says it is on Asadang Road near the Thao Suranari monument and has 7 room types. HOP INN Nakhon Ratchasima names the monument, Maha Viravong National Museum, Chumphon Gate and Wat Phayap as nearby, and HOP INN City Center, on Wat Tha Tako Alley, names Terminal 21, the monument and Wat Sala Loi and says the railway station is nearby. None of the three gives a distance in kilometres, so check the map pin for the walk.

Choose it if: You want to reach the monument, the gate and the evening streets quickly, or you arrive by train.

Skip it if: You want a pool, a mall under the same roof or a quiet resort feel.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume nearby means walking distance; these hotels name landmarks but do not give distances, so check the map pin.

Train or bus into the city, then a taxi; Centara lists the station at 5.7 km

Five hotels on this list are on or near Mittraphap Road. Centara Korat adjoins Central Korat and has a rooftop pool and 218 rooms and suites. Centre Point Hotel Terminal21 Korat, at 99 Mittraphap Road, is connected to Terminal 21. Kantary Hotel Korat, at 899/1, has 33 sq.m. Deluxe rooms with a kitchenette. Fortune Hotel Korat, at 311, lists more than 159 rooms and puts the Ya Mo monument and Chumphon Gate at 2.5 km each. B2 Korat Premier says it is in The Link project between The Mall Korat and Terminal 21, but lists the monument at 16.0 km.

Choose it if: You want malls, restaurants and a pool close by and you are happy to take a taxi to the old city.

Skip it if: Your main goal is to walk to Ya Mo and the old streets in the evening.

Mistake to avoid: Mittraphap Road is long; Fortune says 2.5 km to the monument and B2 Premier says 16.0 km, so check which end of the road your hotel is on.

Two B2 hotels are on this list. B2 Korat Boutique & Budget calls itself a 3-star level lodging with 79 rooms in a calm neighbourhood, and lists Terminal 21 at 3.5 km, Wat Sala Loi at 4.6 km and the Ya Mo monument at 5.0 km. B2 Korat Night Market says it has over 120 rooms and lists the Save One Korat Market at 0.7 km, but puts the monument and Terminal 21 at 9 km each even though it says it is in the heart of the city.

Choose it if: You have a car or taxi budget and want the cheapest practical room with parking.

Skip it if: You plan to walk to the old city or arrive late without a car.

Mistake to avoid: Do not book on the words in the heart of the city alone; read the distance list on the same page.

Examples of established Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) hotels, spread across areas and budget bands. Every fact below was checked against the hotel's own website or a reputable source on 2026-10-17 and links to that source. We have not stayed at these places and give no ratings; we show no prices because rates change daily. The band is the property class (hostel or guesthouse, mid-range, upscale), not a live price.

Day trips and planning from Korat

We have no registered tour listing for Korat yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search, which currently earns us nothing, and results may be limited. Phimai and Khao Yai are the usual day trips; ask your hotel first, since many arrange their own.

Getting to Korat

Most visitors reach Korat by train, bus or car. The 12Go Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima page lists bus, van and train options. We could not read its departure list when we tried on 17 October 2026, so we show no times, counts or prices; check the operator, departure point and travel time on the page. Our Korat guide covers the routes and what to see.

Before you book

  • Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
  • Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
  • If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
  • Do not trust a hotel's word for the centre. B2 Korat Night Market says it is in the heart of the city yet lists the Ya Mo monument at 9 km on the same page, so always check the map pin.
  • Phimai and Khao Yai are separate day trips with their own opening hours and fees; we checked none of those on this page. See the Korat guide for the Phimai fee and hours that the Fine Arts Department gives.

FAQ

Where should first-time visitors stay in Korat?

For the Ya Mo monument and Chumphon Gate, start with Korat Hotel and the two HOP INN hotels, which name those places on their own sites. For malls and restaurants under one roof, look at Centara Korat or Centre Point on Mittraphap Road. The cards show what each hotel says on its own site.

Is there a hotel inside or next to Terminal 21 Korat?

Centre Point Hotel Terminal21 Korat says on its site that it is connected to the Terminal21 Korat shopping mall, at 99 Mittraphap Road. Centara Korat says it adjoins Central Korat, and its contact page lists Central Plaza Nakhonratchasima at 0.18 km.

How far is the train station from the hotels?

Centara Korat lists Nakhon Ratchasima Train Station at 5.7 km. HOP INN Nakhon Ratchasima City Center says the station is nearby but gives no distance. The other hotels did not give a station distance, so check the map.

Can I use Korat as a base for Khao Yai?

Centara's contact page lists Khao Yai National Park at 102 km from the hotel, so it is a long day trip. If Khao Yai is your main goal, our Khao Yai stay page lists hotels on the Pak Chong side. Korat is the better base for Phimai, which Centara lists at 60 km.

Which hotels are far from the old city?

By their own distance lists, B2 Korat Premier Hotel is 16.0 km from the Thao Suranari monument, B2 Korat Night Market 9 km and B2 Korat Boutique & Budget 5.0 km. Fortune Hotel Korat says 2.5 km. Expect to use a car, taxi or songthaew.

Is there a wheelchair-accessible hotel?

Centre Point Hotel Terminal21 Korat says the property is fully wheelchair accessible and has designated accessible rooms. We have not tested this, so ask the hotel what is adapted before you book.

Can I bring a pet?

HOP INN Nakhon Ratchasima City Center says pets are not allowed. The other hotels did not state a pet policy on the pages we checked, so ask before you travel.

Why are some well-known Korat hotels not listed?

We only list hotels whose own website we could open and quote. Sima Thani's site refused our checker with an HTTP 406 error, and The Imperial Hotel and Convention Centre's site showed no readable address or room text. Several older hotel sites no longer resolve. This is a checked list, not a full one.
