Samut Prakan is the province that wraps around Bangkok's south-east, and Suvarnabhumi Airport sits inside it. Wikivoyage says many visitors use the province to stay the night close to the airport, but the province also has the Ancient City, the Erawan Museum, the river-mouth town of Pak Nam and the Bang Krachao green lung. Where you sleep depends on which of those you want. This page compares four areas and 9 hotels.

Use the quick answer above, then the area table. We show no hotel prices because rates change with dates and room type, and the booking buttons open a search for your own dates. We have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 16 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked. Several hotels in the province have no website we could read, so this is a checked list, not a complete one.

How to choose

  1. Start with the reason for the stay. For a flight, sleep on or near King Kaew Road: the four hotels there give 5 to 20 minutes to the airport by their own figures. For a family, Herma Hotel's rooms come with toys and a kids play room. For the museums, Pak Nam by the BTS is the easiest base.
  2. Read the shuttle line. Siam Mandarina says its shuttle is free and runs 24 hours, Amaranth says its shuttle needs a reservation for that hour, Sananwan says its transfer costs extra with 24 hours' notice, and Miracle Suvarnabhumi's home page does not describe a shuttle. Ask for current times and rules before you rely on one.
  3. Check the distance from the airport. Siam Mandarina's home page says 5 to 10 minutes while its shuttle page says 15 to 20 minutes each way, Herma says 18 km, and Pak Nam is a town base, not an airport base. Traffic on the roads around Bangkok changes every figure, so allow extra time.

By the hotels' own figures, 5 to 20 minutes to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Four hotels on or near King Kaew Road. Siam Mandarina Hotel calls itself upscale, 5 to 10 minutes from the airport, with a free 24-hour shuttle, a pool and a gym; its shuttle page says the ride takes 15 to 20 minutes. Amaranth Suvarnabhumi has 278 rooms, a pool with a bar and a complimentary shuttle that needs an advance reservation. Suvarnabhumi Ville says the airport is 9 minutes away and lists pool-access rooms. Miracle Suvarnabhumi calls itself a 4-star boutique hotel 15 minutes from the airport, with a heated outdoor pool.

Choose it if: You have an early or late flight and want a short transfer and a pool.

Skip it if: You want to see the Ancient City, Pak Nam or Bang Krachao without a car or a taxi.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume every shuttle runs without notice: Amaranth says its shuttle needs a reservation for that hour, so send your flight details first.

Two hotels. Herma Hotel Suvarnabhumi says it is 18 km, about 20 minutes, from the airport, with family rooms that have a king bed, a bunk bed and toys, plus a pool, a gym and a kids play room. Sananwan Palace calls itself a budget family-run hotel with a pool in Bang Phli Yai, about 25 minutes from the airport, with 24-hour reception and a shallow kids' pool; its airport transfer costs extra and needs 24 hours' notice.

Choose it if: You travel with children or on a budget and a longer ride to the airport does not matter.

Skip it if: You want the shortest possible transfer.

Mistake to avoid: Do not book from the promotional rate on the home page: Sananwan's page leads with a 2023 offer, so check the current price.

Two hotels. Samutprakarn Hotel calls itself a hotel and service apartment just steps from BTS Pak Nam Station (Exit 3), and its attractions page lists the Erawan Museum, the Ancient City and Phra Samut Chedi. Mayson Place, on the Thai-language home page, calls itself the first hotel of Phraek Sa in boutique style, near the Bang Pu industrial estate and 30 minutes from the airport, and names the Ancient City and Bang Pu seaside as nearby sights.

Choose it if: You want to see Samut Prakan itself and use the BTS Sukhumvit line.

Skip it if: You have an early flight and want the shortest airport transfer.

Mistake to avoid: Do not book Pak Nam as an airport hotel: Mayson Place says 30 minutes to the airport, and Pak Nam is farther still.

One hotel. Bangkok Tree House calls itself an eco-friendly stay in Bang Kachao, Phra Pradaeng District, and a popular stop on the Bang Kachao cycling route. Its home page says cars cannot reach it and drivers must park at Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok or Wat Bang Na Nok, and it lists its restaurant as open 11.30 to 18.00 daily.

Choose it if: You want nature, cycling and a short escape from the city.

Skip it if: You arrive late by taxi with heavy luggage, or want an airport transfer.

Mistake to avoid: Do not plan to drive to the door; leave the car at the temple the resort names and ask how to reach it on foot or by bike.

Day trips and planning in Samut Prakan

We have no registered tour listing for Samut Prakan yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search for Samut Prakan, which currently earns us nothing, and results may be limited. The Ancient City and the Erawan Museum sell their own tickets on their official sites.

Getting to Samut Prakan

Samut Prakan is Bangkok's neighbour, and Suvarnabhumi Airport is inside the province. On 16 October 2026 the 12Go page for an 18 October search for 2 travellers showed 611 trips in all, with buses (80 listed, from THB 52), trains (16, from THB 70), vans (30, from THB 466) and taxis (93, from THB 552), and the first results were taxis ending at Suvarnabhumi Airport. These figures are what the page showed that day, not a promise. Check the arrival point and the operator before you book. Our Samut Prakan guide covers the sights.

Affiliate disclosure: these links may earn us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we write.

Before you book

  • Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
  • Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
  • If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
  • Wikipedia says Samut Prakan lies at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River on the Gulf of Thailand and that Suvarnabhumi Airport is in Bang Phli district. Wikivoyage lists BTS stations from Samrong to Pak Nam and says the Erawan Museum is served by Chang Erawan station, which makes the BTS the simplest way to sightsee without a car.
  • The Ancient City's official ticket page shows opening from 09:00 to 19:00 with ticket sales closing at 18:00, and the Erawan Museum's official rate page lists its own hours and fees. Both can change, so check the official pages before you go.

FAQ

Where should I stay for an early flight from Suvarnabhumi?

King Kaew Road in Bang Phli. Siam Mandarina Hotel, Amaranth Suvarnabhumi, Suvarnabhumi Ville and Miracle Suvarnabhumi are all there, and each says it is between 5 and 20 minutes from the airport. Confirm the shuttle rules first.

Is Suvarnabhumi Airport really in Samut Prakan?

Yes. Wikipedia says the airport is in Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province, even though it is called Bangkok's airport, so hotels around it are in Samut Prakan.

Which hotel has a free airport shuttle?

Siam Mandarina says its shuttle is free and runs around the clock, and Amaranth says it offers a complimentary shuttle that needs an advance reservation with flight details. Sananwan charges extra and needs 24 hours' notice, and Miracle's home page does not describe one.

Is Samut Prakan good for sightseeing?

Yes, if you plan it. The Ancient City, the Erawan Museum and Phra Samut Chedi are in the province, and Wikivoyage lists BTS access for several. Pak Nam by the BTS is the easiest base for them.

Can I stay in Bang Krachao?

Yes. Bangkok Tree House is an eco-friendly stay in Bang Kachao, Phra Pradaeng District. It says cars cannot reach it and drivers must park at a temple, and its restaurant closes at 18:00.

Do the hotel pages show prices?

Some do, but rates change with dates and room type and some pages show old promotions, so we show none. The booking buttons on this page open a search for your own dates, and the hotel cards link each hotel's own website.

Are there hotels for families?

Herma Hotel Suvarnabhumi says its family rooms have a king bed, a bunk bed for two kids and toys, and it has a kids play room. Sananwan Palace has a shallow pool for kids.

Is there a beach to stay on?

Not for a beach holiday. Wikipedia describes a small sandy beach, no more than about 300 metres wide, in Phra Samut Chedi district surrounded by mangroves, and Wikivoyage describes Bang Pu for bird watching and seafood. For beach holidays go to Pattaya or Koh Samet.
