Quick answer: where to stay in Nonthaburi?

Choose an area first, then check the live rate for your dates.

Disclosure: we are an affiliate partner of travel booking sites, but these links currently open the providers' own sites and earn us nothing yet.

Nonthaburi is the province directly north of Bangkok, and most of it is built up. Wikipedia calls it the most densely populated province after Bangkok. There is no beach and no mountain: you choose between the river city around Nonthaburi Pier, Pak Kret near Ko Kret and Wat Ku, the IMPACT exhibition area in Muang Thong Thani, and Bang Kruai on the Bangkok edge. This page compares those five areas and 8 hotels.

Use the quick answer above, then the area table. We show no hotel prices because rates change with dates and room type, and the booking buttons open a search for your own dates. We have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 16 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked. Many small Nonthaburi hotels have no website we could read, so this is a checked list, not a complete one.

How to choose

  1. Start with the plan, not the room. For Ko Kret and Wat Ku, Kalanan Riverside Resort says Wat Ku sits next to it and that it runs boat trips to Ko Kret every week. For an IMPACT concert or exhibition, Novotel Bangkok IMPACT says the centre is a five-minute walk and ibis Bangkok IMPACT says guests can walk to any hall by sky walk. For the Chao Phraya Express Boat, Livotel Express says the Rama 7 Bridge pier is a 10-minute walk.
  2. Check the hotel's own page for what you need. Koo Hotel lists its smallest room at 19 sq m, Best Western Matter Tiwanon says no pets are allowed, and Livotel Express says its front desk runs 7:00 to 21:00 only.
  3. Ask about events. Riverine Place describes meeting rooms and weddings for 40 to 120 people, the Grand Richmond home page leads with events and weddings, and the two IMPACT hotels are built around show and concert days. If you want a quiet stay, ask whether a big event is booked on your dates.

Day trips and planning in Nonthaburi

We have no registered tour listing for Nonthaburi yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search for Nonthaburi, which currently earns us nothing, and results may be limited. Some resorts run their own boat trips, so ask your hotel first.

Getting to Nonthaburi

Nonthaburi is next to Bangkok. On 16 October 2026 the 12Go page for an 18 October search listed 23 trips for 2 travellers from THB 70 to THB 2,000, with trains (16 listed, Thai Railway) and taxis (7 listed). The train rows ran between two Bangkok stations, so check the exact arrival point before you book. These figures are what the page showed that day, not a promise. Our Nonthaburi guide covers Ko Kret, the temples and the river.

Affiliate disclosure: these links may earn us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we write.

Before you book

  • Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
  • Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
  • If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
  • Nonthaburi is part of the Bangkok metropolitan area, so you can also sleep in Bangkok and visit by boat or MRT. Wikipedia says the MRT Purple Line northern section opened on 6 August 2016 and the Pink Line opened for a free public trial on 21 November 2023. Wikipedia says Nonthaburi Pier is the final stop for all Chao Phraya Express Boats except the green-flag boat.
  • Ko Kret is an island with no bridge, so most visitors arrive by ferry. Wikipedia, citing a Thai source, says the island is open to visitors on Saturday and Sunday and public holidays from 9:00 to 17:30, while Wikivoyage says it can be reached every day with the market on weekends. The two disagree, so check before you plan a weekday trip.

FAQ

Where should first-time visitors stay in Nonthaburi?

It depends on the plan. For Ko Kret and Wat Ku, Kalanan Riverside Resort in Pak Kret says Wat Ku is next to it. For a river view in the city, Riverine Place calls itself a Chao Phraya riverside hotel. For IMPACT events, Novotel Bangkok IMPACT and ibis Bangkok IMPACT are in the complex.

Is there a beach in Nonthaburi?

No. Nonthaburi lies on the Chao Phraya River basin; Wikipedia says the province has no forest area and is largely urbanised. The water here is the river, so riverside hotels are the closest thing to a view.

Which hotels are near IMPACT Arena?

Novotel Bangkok IMPACT says the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre is a five-minute walk from the hotel. ibis Bangkok IMPACT says guests can walk to any IMPACT hall within minutes by sky walk. Koo Hotel in Pak Kret says it is a few minutes from the convention centre.

Can I stay in Nonthaburi and visit Bangkok?

Yes. Nonthaburi borders Bangkok. Livotel Express in Bang Kruai says the Chao Phraya Express Boat pier at Rama 7 Bridge is a 10-minute walk. Check current boat and MRT times with the operators.

Are the hotels here good for families?

Some cards mention family features. Novotel Bangkok IMPACT lists a kids corner in the lobby and an indoor pool, Riverine Place lists a children's pool and a 133-room mix with larger units, and Kalanan lists pool villas. Check the room type for your group size.

Do I need a car in Nonthaburi?

Not always. The area is served by buses, the Chao Phraya Express Boat and two MRT lines, but hotels such as Best Western Matter Tiwanon list nearby shops 1.7 and 4.7 km away, so a taxi or car helps outside the main hubs.

Is the Ko Kret ferry cheap?

Wikivoyage says the ferry from the Pak Kret side ran almost non-stop for 4 baht, but that is an old figure. Check the price at the pier.
