Kamphaeng Phet is the lower-north town on the Ping River whose historical park sits on the same UNESCO listing as Sukhothai. Hotels here are few and spread across three kinds of place: the town centre on the east bank, the quieter Nakhon Chum bank across the river, and Khlong Lan, about an hour west by road, where the national park waterfalls are. This page compares those three areas and lists eight places whose own websites we could open, plus a short note on two listings that say very little.
Use the quick answer above, then the area table. We show no hotel prices because rates change with dates and room type, and the booking buttons open a search for your own dates. We have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 16 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked. Several of these sites are old, and the cards say so. This is a checked list, not a complete one: many Kamphaeng Phet guesthouses and resorts advertise only on social media or booking sites, and we did not list those.
How to choose
- Decide whether you want to walk or drive. The Fine Arts Department splits the historical park into a rampart area and an Aranyik forest area, and Wikivoyage says most distances in the town centre can be covered on foot, so the town-centre hotels are the practical base if you are not driving. Wikivoyage also says the town has no regular taxis and few tuk-tuks, so a hotel in Nakhon Chum or Khlong Lan means your own car, motorbike or a pre-arranged ride.
- Match the area to the day. The park, the National Museum, the night market and the riverside promenade are all in town, according to Wikivoyage. The Khlong Lan National Park waterfalls are about 60 km away by TAT's figure, and Wanalee Resort sits beside the stream from the Khlong Lan waterfall. Mae Wong National Park is further still, so many visitors do the park and the town on one day and the mountains on another.
- Check the details the old websites cannot tell you. Navarat Heritage (2013), Chakungrao Riverview (2015) and Scenic Riverside (2017) all show old copyright years, and two listings on this page give no address in readable text. Confirm room types, the exact pin and parking with the hotel. Check the final rate with tax, payment timing and cancellation terms, and ask your host about EV charging if you need it.

The old town and riverside
Town centre (east bank)

- Not a beach area: a small river town beside the Ping

- Bus from Bangkok to the Transport Company terminal about 2 km outside the centre, then a songthaew or a booked ride
Four hotels on this list are in or beside the town centre. Navarat Heritage is on Soi 21 off Tesa 1 Road and says the night market is next door, Chakungrao Riverview is on Taysa 1 Road with river-facing rooms, a restaurant and a spa, and Scenic Riverside Resort sits on Thesa 2 Road beside the river with separate villa-style units. Hop Inn says it is near Wat Phra That, the National Museum and Wat Khu Yang. Wikivoyage says most distances here can be walked and the town is bicycle-friendly.
Choose it if: You are not driving and want the night market, the museum and the riverside within reach.
Skip it if: You want mountains and waterfalls on your doorstep, or the quieter west bank.
Mistake to avoid: Do not assume the bus terminal is in the centre; Wikivoyage places it about 2 km out on the other bank, so book a ride or ask the hotel for a pickup.

- Car or bicycle from the town centre; ask the hotel about a pickup from the bus terminal
Wikivoyage notes that some resorts are in Nakhon Chum, on the opposite bank of the Ping from the town centre, and that you can reach downtown only by car or bicycle, about 3 km on a road it calls not so idyllic. Home by the bridge Hotel gives a Nakornchum address and lists a swimming pool, a garden, parking, breakfast, Wi-Fi and on-site EV charging, and calls itself a good stop for drivers between Bangkok, Sukhothai and Chiang Mai.
Choose it if: You have a car or a bicycle and want a quiet riverside hotel with a pool.
Skip it if: You are relying on taxis or on walking to the night market.
Mistake to avoid: Do not count on EV charging being free the moment you arrive; the hotel asks guests to contact it in advance.

- Your own car or a chartered ride; TAT puts the park headquarters about 60 km from town on Highway 1117
Wanalee Resort says it sits beside the stream from the Khlong Lan waterfall, not far from Khlong Lan National Park, and lists houses numbered 1 to 13, a tent camping area and a meeting room. It suggests visiting the Khlong Lan waterfall, the Khlong Nam Lai waterfall and Kaeng Ko Roi. TAT describes a 95-metre Khlong Lan waterfall, a nine-level Khlong Nam Lai waterfall and overnight camping in the park.
Choose it if: You want to spend the next morning at the waterfalls rather than in town.
Skip it if: You do not have a vehicle, or want restaurants and a night market nearby.
Mistake to avoid: Do not treat the park fee and hours as settled: TAT's description of the park gives two different sets of hours, so check with the park.

Mango House Resort has an official booking page that lists Deluxe Connecting, Deluxe Double and Deluxe Twins rooms and bank-transfer and QR payment, but shows no address in readable text. Lanna Resort's site says it is open 24 hours, that rooms are cleaned daily, and that the setting is shady and close to town, but gives no address in the page text. We list both because their own sites open, and we keep the cards short because the sites say little.
Choose it if: You are happy to phone or message to confirm the location first.
Skip it if: You need to be sure of the neighbourhood before you book.
Mistake to avoid: Do not book either before you have a map pin from the hotel.

Day trips and planning from Kamphaeng Phet
We have no registered tour listing for Kamphaeng Phet yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search, which currently earns us nothing, and results may be limited. Most visitors see the park by bicycle or on foot, and the national parks can be reached by your own vehicle, so ask your hotel before you pay for a tour.

Getting to Kamphaeng Phet
When we opened the 12Go Bangkok to Kamphaeng Phet page in a browser on 16 October 2026 it listed 27 trips, including buses from Transport Co, Sritawong Tour and Cherdchai Tour North and taxis, with no train or flight. The button opens that page; check the departure point, the time and the drop-off before you book, and note that Wikivoyage says the main bus terminal is about 2 km outside the centre. Our Kamphaeng Phet guide covers the roads, buses and nearby towns.

Before you book
- Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
- Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
- If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
- We could not open an official page for the Historical Park's entrance fees or hours, so treat the figures in our guide as indicative and check at the gate. Wikivoyage's fees and hours carry a 2017 update date.
- Do not plan a late dinner. Wikivoyage says much of the town shuts up between 20:00 and 21:00, including the night market, so eat early or confirm your hotel restaurant's hours.
FAQ
Where should I stay in Kamphaeng Phet for the first time?
In the town centre on the east bank, near Thesa Road. Navarat Heritage says the night market is next door, Chakungrao Riverview says all rooms overlook the Ping River, and Scenic Riverside sits on the river. From there you can reach the park, the museum and the market without a car.
Is it better to stay in town or in Nakhon Chum?
Town is easier without a car. Wikivoyage says Nakhon Chum is across the river and reachable only by car or bicycle from downtown, and that resorts there may cost less. Home by the bridge is on the Nakhon Chum bank and lists a pool, a garden and EV charging.
Where should I stay for the Khlong Lan waterfalls?
Wanalee Resort in Khlong Lan is the one hotel on this list there. Its site says it sits beside the stream from the Khlong Lan waterfall, not far from the national park, and lists houses and a tent area. TAT puts the park headquarters about 60 km from town, so you need a vehicle.
Do I need a car in Kamphaeng Phet?
Not for the town. Wikivoyage says distances in the centre can be covered on foot and the city is relatively bicycle-friendly, with bicycles for rent at the park entrance. For Khlong Lan, Mae Wong and Wang Chao you need your own car, a motorbike or a chartered ride, because Wikivoyage says there is no regular public transport system.
How far are the hotels from the Historical Park?
We do not quote distances we could not verify. Navarat Heritage says it is a short distance from the park and Hop Inn names Wat Phra That and the National Museum as nearby. Open the map link for the exact pin; the Nakhon Chum hotels are across the river.
Why do you list only eight hotels?
We list only hotels whose own website we could open and re-check, and many Kamphaeng Phet guesthouses and resorts use only social media or booking sites. One guesthouse address given in a travel guide now points to unrelated content, so we left it out. Two listings here, Mango House Resort and Lanna Resort, say little, and their cards say so.
Why are there no prices or ratings?
We have no current verified price or rating source, so we show neither. The booking buttons open a search for your own dates and the hotel cards give the date each fact was checked.
Is Kamphaeng Phet worth an overnight stay?
Yes if you want the historical park at an unhurried pace. Wikivoyage describes it as largely ignored by tourists and says it is about halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. That position also makes it a natural overnight stop on the long drive between the two.
