Khao Yai is not one resort strip. The national park sits about 200 km north-east of Bangkok, and the places to sleep are spread around it: along Thanarat Road in Mu Si, in the Pak Chong subdistricts, in Pak Chong town, and further out in Muak Lek and Wang Nam Khiao, which the park also lists within its area. The right base depends mostly on whether you have a car, because the park says there is no transport service inside it.
Use the quick answer above, then the table to compare areas. We show no prices because rates change with dates and room type, and the live rate links open booking search with your own dates. We have not stayed at these hotels: every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 16 October 2026. Several areas below are only labelled by where hotels give their addresses, and we say so where we cannot back up more.
How to choose
- Decide how you will travel. The park calls a private car the most convenient way and says there is no transport service inside the park, so without a car pick a base in Pak Chong town and plan taxis or a hired driver.
- Open the exact hotel pin on the map and check the drive to the park entrance you plan to use. Hotels quote their own distances, which are estimates and depend on traffic.
- Compare the final rate with tax, breakfast, transfers and cancellation terms before you pay, and check pet, child and group rules if they matter to you.

- Car; Highway 2090 from the Pak Chong toll plaza
Thanarat Road is the road the park describes as winding 50 km through Khao Yai National Park from the Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine entrance to Prachinburi. Kirimaya, MUTHI MAYA, Viewpoint Khaoyai, Fortune Courtyard and Thames Valley give Thanarat Road addresses, and several of them name Mu Si. We use this area simply as the group of hotels that state those addresses, and the park does not rate the hotels.
Choose it if: You are driving and want a base on the road that leads into the park.
Skip it if: You do not have a car or want to be in a town.
Mistake to avoid: Do not assume every hotel is the same distance from the entrance; hotels quote their own distances, so check the map pin.

- Car or taxi; confirm the drive to your entrance
Three hotels here describe themselves as near Khao Yai National Park: Ozone Hotel says it is 800 m from the park and gives a Mu Si address, U Khao Yai says it is just moments from the park, and Splendid Hotel gives a Mu Si (Moo See) address. The park collects entrance fees at the Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine Visitor Center (Pak Chong entrance) and the Noen Hom centre, so we do not claim any of these hotels is at a gate.
Choose it if: You want a shorter drive to the park and a mid-range or boutique hotel.
Skip it if: You want a town base or a farm stay.
Mistake to avoid: Do not read 'near the park' as 'at the gate'; the park has two fee points, so check the drive to the one you will use.

The park lists Pong Ta Long among the subdistricts in its area. Two resorts on this page give Pong Ta Long addresses: InterContinental Khao Yai Resort, whose site credits architect Bill Bensley and lists twelve units made from upcycled train carriages, and Toscana Valley, an Italian-themed estate of several hotels. That is all we can support about this area; we have no verified information on how far it is from the park entrance.
Choose it if: You want a themed resort estate and plan to spend time at the property.
Skip it if: You want to be as close as possible to the park entrance.
Mistake to avoid: Do not book without checking the drive from Pong Ta Long to your entrance; we cannot give the distance.

Pak Chong is where the park tells rail travellers to get off: take the north-eastern line from Bangkok to Pak Chong station, then a songthaew from Pak Chong Market to the Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine Visitor Center. Tharakiree Place Hotel gives a Pak Chong address on Mitraphap Bypass Road, 500 m from Lotus Pak Chong. The town is not at the park entrance, so budget for taxis or a hired car for park days.
Choose it if: You arrive by train and want a town hotel.
Skip it if: You want to wake up near the park or on a hill.
Mistake to avoid: Do not expect to walk to the park; plan the songthaew, taxi or driver for each park day.

Its contact page puts it 37 km from Pak Chong station. We do not describe the surroundings further.
Choose it if: You have a car and a specific property in mind, such as a golf resort or a stargazing hotel.

Before you book
- Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
- Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
- If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
- Check the Thai Meteorological Department forecast (tmd.go.th) before you travel, because the park says October to February can be quite cold in the mountains and at night, and June to September is the rainy season.
- Park rules include no pets, no alcohol, no drones without permission and no smoking outside designated areas. If you meet an elephant on the road, the park says to stop at least 30 m away and not to use the horn or flash photography.
FAQ
Where should first-time visitors stay in Khao Yai?
If you have a car, Thanarat Road in Mu Si is the simplest first base: several hotels on this page give addresses there, and the park describes Thanarat Road as a 50 km road through the park from the Pak Chong entrance to Prachinburi. Without a car, Pak Chong town is easier because it has the train station.
Do I need a car in Khao Yai?
The park says a private car is the most convenient way to travel and that there is no transport service inside the park. By train, the park says to take the north-eastern line to Pak Chong station and a songthaew from Pak Chong Market to the Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine Visitor Center. By coach or minivan, it says to go to Pak Chong and then take a taxi or the Pak Chong-Khao Yai bus, though its page on the bus may be out of date.
How far is Khao Yai from Bangkok?
The park says it is about 200 km north-east of Bangkok and gives a total drive of 205 km to the park headquarters via Highway 2 (Mittraphap Road). It names Motorway No. 6, exiting at the Pak Chong toll plaza and joining Highway 2090 (Thanarat Road), as the most suitable route.
When is the best time to visit Khao Yai?
The park gives an average annual temperature of 21 C and describes October to February as the cool season, with December and January coldest and temperatures that can fall below 10 C. It describes June to September as the rainy season, with dense vegetation and strongly flowing waterfalls.
What are the park opening hours and fees?
The park gives its opening hours as daily 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. Visitors pay entrance fees for both persons and vehicles, only at the Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine Visitor Center (Pak Chong entrance) or the Noen Hom visitor centre. The DNP fee list (updated 2 June 2023, read 2026-10-16) gives foreign adults THB 200 and children THB 100, Thai adults THB 40 and children THB 20 (foreign THB 400 / 200 on the Noen Hom to Pak Chong tourist stretch); vehicle fees are extra, so check the park's entry fees page before you go.
Can I bring a pet?
The park rules list no pets. Hotel policies differ: the InterContinental Khao Yai Resort says select units accept pets, with one room type for pets and some public areas closed to them, and Kirimaya lists dog-friendly rooms with a maximum of 2 dogs. Confirm the policy with the hotel before you book.
What should I do if I meet an elephant on the road?
The park says to stop the car at least 30 m from the elephant and not to use the horn or flash photography. Follow the park rangers' instructions on the day.
Is it practical to stay in Muak Lek or Wang Nam Khiao?
The park lists both areas within its territory, but they are further from the Pak Chong entrance. The Muak Lek farm on this page says it is 30 minutes from Khao Yai and that no public transport passes it, and Phupreugsa Resort in Wang Nam Khiao describes separate houses by group size. Both suit travellers with a car who prefer a quiet farm-style stay.
Is Toscana Valley a single hotel?
