Uttaradit is a small river town on the Nan River that most visitors use as a base for the old temples in Laplae, the town's own sights and, with a car, Sirikit Dam. This page lists five places in three parts of the province so you can pick the one that fits your trip.
We list only five places, and we say so up front. We include a hotel only if it has a live official website whose text we could open and quote. Chatchawan Resort, Areena Resort and Hotel, Sunee Boutique Hotel, Jutha Mansion, Red Heritage Hotel, Thapjumras Boutique Hotel, Sinsawat Resort and Ton Thong Resort Hotel showed only booking-site listings in our search, so they are not here. We show no prices because rates change with date and room type, and we have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked on 19 October 2026 after a separate verification pass, with the source linked.
How to choose
- Decide first whether you want the town centre, the Laplae valley or the dam. Three hotels are in the town centre: Seeharaj, Araya and Friday. Hua Dum Resort is in the Laplae zone, and Khun Saichol Villa is EGAT's guest-house site at Sirikit Dam in Tha Pla district.
- Read the distances as the hotels' own claims, and note that sources disagree. Hua Dum says it is about 3 km from Wat Phra Thaen Sila At and about 12 km from the railway station and town, and says Sirikit Dam is about 60 km from the Laplae zone. The provincial tourism page puts the dam 58 km from town, while Wikipedia says 45 km. Treat every figure as a hint and open the map pin before you book.
- Most sights are outside the town, so a car or a driver helps. We found no public transport details on these hotel sites, so ask the hotel what it can arrange, and confirm the final rate with tax, parking and cancellation terms. If you arrive by train, check whether you need Uttaradit station or Sila At station, which are different stations in the town.

- Train, bus or drive to the town; check Uttaradit or Sila At station
Three hotels on this list are in or near the centre. Seeharaj says it is the first international-standard hotel in town with 152 Lanna-style rooms, Araya lists a 25-metre salt-water pool and an EV charging point, and Friday Hotel is on the 5th floor of the Friday department-store building. The provincial tourism page lists public parking at the Phichai monument, so a short walk or ride covers most town sights.
Choose it if: You arrive by train or bus and want a base for the town sights and day trips to Laplae.
Skip it if: Your main plan is the Laplae temples or Sirikit Dam and you want a shorter drive.
Mistake to avoid: Do not confuse Uttaradit station with Sila At station, which is a different station in town.

- Drive; the resort says it is about 12 km from the station and town
One hotel on this list is in the Laplae zone. Hua Dum Resort's own site calls it the closest stay to Wat Phra Thaen Sila At, about 3 km away, in Chai Chumphon subdistrict with Wi-Fi and parking, and says the Laplae zone is about 60 km from Sirikit Dam. Laplae is known for the old temples, the museum, the city gate and durian and langsat orchards.
Choose it if: The Laplae temples and fruit season are your main plan and you have a car.
Skip it if: You arrive by train and want to walk to shops and the station.
Mistake to avoid: Do not assume a short walk to the station; Hua Dum gives about 12 km by its own figure.

Lake and dam side, far from town
Sirikit Dam and Tha Pla

- Drive; the dam is 45 km (Wikipedia) or 58 km (provincial page) from the town
One place on this list is at the dam. EGAT's guest-house site gives the address as 40 Moo 10, Pha Lueat, Tha Pla, lists houses named Baan Rang Nok Krachok, Rang Nang Nuan, Rang Nok Krajab and Phu Nan, and mentions a golf course and meeting rooms. The Nang Nuan house is described as a private holiday house on a hill.
Choose it if: Sirikit Dam and the lake are the reason for your trip and you have your own transport.
Skip it if: You want restaurants, the railway station or a base for the temples in Laplae.
Mistake to avoid: Do not expect a town; the dam is far from the station and the old temples, and the distance figures differ by source.

Getting to Uttaradit
Most visitors reach Uttaradit by train, bus or car; Wikipedia gives the distance from Bangkok as 488 km (Wikivoyage says 483 km). The Northern Line train has two stations in town, Uttaradit and Sila At, so check which one you need. Before you book
- Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
- Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
- If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
- Hua Dum Resort's own figures say it is about 3 km from Wat Phra Thaen Sila At and about 12 km from the station. Wikipedia and the provincial page are not consistent with each other on the town distances, so treat both numbers as the hotel's claims and check the map.
- Seeharaj's site is mainly in Thai, and Araya's home page gives no street address.
- Khun Saichol Villa is run by EGAT at the dam. We found no booking, price or check-in information in the text we quoted, so contact EGAT before you plan around it.
FAQ
Where should first-time visitors stay in Uttaradit?
Stay in the town centre if you arrive by train or want an easy base: Seeharaj, Araya and Friday are there. Choose Hua Dum if the Laplae temples are your main plan. The cards show what each hotel says on its own site.
Is there a hotel near Wat Phra Thaen Sila At?
Hua Dum Resort says on its home page that it is the closest stay to the temple, and its own stay guide says about 3 km. We list no other hotel in the Laplae valley with a readable official website.
Can I stay at Sirikit Dam?
EGAT's own guest-house site lists several house types at the dam in Tha Pla district, and the provincial tourism page says the dam accommodation can host up to 280 people. We did not find prices or booking terms, so contact EGAT directly.
Which hotels are close to the railway station?
None of the five gives a station distance in the text we quoted, except Hua Dum, which says it is about 12 km from the station and town. Seeharaj says it is in the city centre. Ask each hotel, and check which of the two town stations you need.
Which hotel suits meetings or groups?
Araya lists meeting, seminar and banquet rooms in several sizes. EGAT's guest-house site lists meeting rooms next to the houses. The provincial tourism page also mentions three meeting rooms at the dam.
Why are only five hotels listed?
We only list hotels whose own website we could open and quote. Chatchawan, Areena, Sunee, Jutha Mansion, Red Heritage, Thapjumras, Sinsawat and Ton Thong showed only booking-site listings in our search. This is a checked list, not a complete one.
Is Uttaradit a day trip or an overnight stay?
Wikipedia and Wikivoyage put the town about 483 to 488 km from Bangkok, so most visitors stay at least one night. An overnight stay lets you see the town and Laplae without a long drive back.
