Phatthalung is a small province where the sights are spread out: temples and the market are in town, while Thale Noi and the Pak Pra lake shore are a drive away in Khuan Khanun district. Where you sleep decides whether you walk to dinner or drive to a dawn boat trip. This page compares three areas: Phatthalung town, the Pak Pra lake shore, and the Khuan Khanun countryside on the Thale Noi side.

Use the quick answer above, then the area table. We show no hotel prices because rates change with date and room type. We have not stayed at any of these hotels. Every card shows facts taken from the hotel's own website and checked in a separate verification pass, with the source linked; facts we could not re-find were removed. The list is short on purpose: many small guesthouses and resorts in Phatthalung only have a Facebook page or a booking-site listing, and we list only places whose own website we could read. It is a checked list, not a complete one.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether your trip is town or lake. If you want temples, the market and the railway station close by, look at Siva Royal Hotel, which says on its Thai home page that it is in the centre of Phatthalung town. Dusit Princess is a larger hotel on Manora Road and says the town is a 5-minute drive and Thale Noi a 30-minute drive away.
  2. For the lake side, Sri Pakpra sits at Ban Chai Talay, Phanang Tung, Khuan Khanun, and offers free canoes and bicycles according to its site. Tawanna Resort is a small family-run eco resort among coconut and rubber plantations in Khuan Khanun that lists Thale Noi as a local experience. Neither site gives a distance to Thale Noi, so ask before you book.
  3. Plan how you arrive. Our Phatthalung guide notes there is no airport in the province. Sri Pakpra's Location page gives 75 km and about 1 hour from Trang Airport and about 90 km and 1 hour 10 minutes from Hat Yai Airport, and says a pick-up car can be reserved when booking. Confirm the final rate with tax and cancellation terms.

Two hotels on this list are in or beside the town. Siva Royal Hotel says on its Thai home page that it is in the centre of Phatthalung town; its footer gives 1 Phatthana Road, Khuha Sawan, and it lists free Wi-Fi and a fitness centre. Dusit Princess is on Manora Road, Tha Miram, with 132 rooms and suites and an outdoor pool, and says the town is a 5-minute drive and Thale Noi a 30-minute drive. Ozone Resort & Pool Villa lists pool villas and bungalows but gives no street address on the page we read, so check its map pin.

Choose it if: You want temples, the market and the station close by, or a larger hotel with a pool and an early boat trip to Thale Noi.

Skip it if: You want to sleep beside the lake or walk out to a canoe.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume Dusit Princess is in the walkable centre: it says the town is a 5-minute drive.

Sri Pakpra Boutique Resort is the lake-side option. Its Location page places it at Ban Chai Talay, Phanang Tung Subdistrict, Khuan Khanun District, and its home page lists complimentary canoes and bicycles and says there are two restaurants. It gives no distance to Thale Noi in the text we checked, so ask for the drive time.

Choose it if: You want a quiet lake-side stay and are happy to arrange transport.

Skip it if: You want to walk to shops, temples or the station.

Mistake to avoid: Do not book it as a town hotel: the Location page describes a drive from Phatthalung city towards the lake.

Tawanna Resort calls itself a boutique family-run resort among coconut and rubber plantations in a Thai village, at 107 Luean Lane, Tanot Duan, Khuan Khanun. Its site lists Wi-Fi included in the room rate, free private parking, and Thale Noi, outdoor activities and a nearby eco-market a few minutes' walk away as local experiences. It gives no distance to Thale Noi, so confirm the drive time.

Choose it if: You want a small, quiet eco-style stay and have your own transport.

Skip it if: You want a large hotel with a pool or a central town location.

Mistake to avoid: Do not assume Thale Noi is walkable: the site lists it as a local experience without a distance.

Day trips and planning from Phatthalung

We have no registered tour listing for Phatthalung yet, so we show no tour prices. The button opens Klook's own search, which currently earns us nothing, and results may be thin. Thale Noi boat trips are often arranged by the hotel or the pier, so ask first.

Getting to Phatthalung

Most visitors reach Phatthalung by train or bus. Our Phatthalung guide records that on 16 October 2026 the 12Go Bangkok to Phatthalung page showed 22 trips: 3 train, 17 bus and 2 taxi. Check the operator, pick-up point and travel time on that page.

Before you book

  • Open the map link for the area and then check the hotel's exact pin. A neighbourhood name can cover a wide area.
  • Check the final rate with tax, payment timing, cancellation terms and what the room includes.
  • If arriving late, confirm the check-in method and the last transport that actually runs.
  • Hotels near Thale Noi rarely state the distance on their own sites. Only Dusit Princess gave one that we could verify (30 minutes by car), so ask the others for the drive time and boat-pier location.
  • Thale Noi boat trips, fees and opening hours are not checked on this page. See the Phatthalung guide for what we could confirm.

FAQ

Where should first-time visitors stay in Phatthalung?

For temples, the market and the railway station, start with Siva Royal Hotel in the town centre. For Thale Noi and the lake, look at Sri Pakpra or Tawanna Resort in Khuan Khanun, or Dusit Princess, which says Thale Noi is a 30-minute drive. The cards show what each hotel says on its own site.

Which hotel says it is closest to Thale Noi?

Only Dusit Princess gives a driving time on its own site: 30 minutes. Sri Pakpra and Tawanna Resort are in Khuan Khanun district but do not state a distance on the pages we checked, so ask them directly.

Do I need a car in Phatthalung?

Plan for one if you want Thale Noi, the lake shore and the waterfalls, because the sights are spread out. Our Phatthalung guide says you can walk to temples and the market in town. Sri Pakpra says guests can reserve a pick-up car when booking.

How do I get to Phatthalung without an airport?

Come by train or bus, or fly to Trang or Hat Yai and continue by road. Sri Pakpra lists 75 km (about 1 hour) from Trang Airport and about 90 km (1 hour 10 minutes) from Hat Yai Airport.

Is there a hotel with a swimming pool?

Dusit Princess lists an outdoor swimming pool. Ozone Resort & Pool Villa lists pool villas with a salt-system pool and children pool, and Sri Pakpra has a Luxury & Infinity Pool entry in its site menu. Confirm opening hours with the hotel.

Why are there only five hotels on this page?

Many small places in Phatthalung have only a Facebook page or a booking-site listing, which we do not treat as an official source. We list only hotels whose own website we could read and check. Well-known homestays and resorts around Pak Pra may exist that are not listed here.

Do you show room prices?

No. Rates change with the date and room type, and we have no current verified source. The booking buttons open a search where you pick your own dates.
