Pick your Zhangjiajie base by what you will do most. If you plan several days in the national forest park, Wulingyuan town saves time. If you arrive by train or plane and Tianmen Mountain is the main plan, Yongding next to the cable car station is easier. Seven come from hotel-group websites (two Accor, five Wyndham), and three come from the hotel listings on the official Wulingyuan tourism site, not the hotels' own sites. Getting to your hotel
From Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (DYG)
Wikivoyage says taxis into town cost about CNY 20 to 40 and bus 4 costs CNY 1, running about 06:00 to 19:00. Wyndham Garden says it is 6 km from the airport and Ramada Tianmen Mountain says 5 km. Hotels in Wulingyuan are further: Wyndham Wulingyuan says 32 km. Days Hotel says it offers a paid hotel car to the airport that must be booked in advance. We do not vouch for any figure that does not come from a provider.
From the railway station
Wikivoyage says high-speed trains stop at Zhangjiajie West, about 5 km from town, with a bus from the station to the Wulingyuan gate in about 60 minutes. Wyndham Wulingyuan says it is 25 km from the West station. For train tickets see the 12306 notes on the China hub.

Takeaway: to walk to a park gate without a bus, look at Wulingyuan Hotel and Qinghe Jinjiang, where the official site gives a number. To reach Tianmen Mountain without a transfer, look at Wyndham Garden and Ramada Tianmen Mountain.

The cards below show facts checked on 16 October 2026, with standout facts and cautions. There are no room rates or review scores. Seven were read from English pages of hotel groups. Three (Wulingyuan Hotel, Qinghe Jinjiang and Jianghan Villa) were read from Chinese hotel listings on the official Wulingyuan tourism site, not from the hotels' own sites, and those entries are undated. We could not open IHG and Hilton hotel sites on the day (they blocked automated reading), so Crowne Plaza and Hilton Garden Inn are not in the list. That does not mean they are worse.

What to check before you book
- Open a map and check the real route to the park gate or the cable car, not just "near".
- Book the park ticket and the date first, because it is date-specific. See the forest park page and the Tianmen Mountain page.
- Ask the hotel about pick-ups if you land late. Wikivoyage warns that some airport taxi drivers refuse the meter.
- Check cancellation terms on the booking page, not just the hotel card.
How this guide compares
We read China Highlights' Zhangjiajie guide and Travel China Guide's Wulingyuan page on 17 October 2026. Both suggest where to stay in broad terms. We did not find distances taken from the hotels' own sites or a note on which chains could not be read. This page uses only distances the hotels or the official park site publish, drops what a site does not say, and tells you which three entries are not from the hotels' own sites.
