Canton Tower (Guangzhou Ta, 广州塔) stands on the Pearl River in Haizhu District. The official site gives opening hours of 9:30 to 22:30 and offers several levels: glass rooms at 428 and 433 m, open-air platforms at 450 and 488 m, and a horizontal Ferris wheel at 460 m. Ticket prices are the one thing we could not read on the official pages, so this page compares two unofficial sites and says plainly that neither is confirmed.
This page covers the tower only. For the wider city, see the Guangzhou and Shenzhen guide; for rooms, where to stay. Entry rules for the whole country are on the China hub.

What the official site says (checked 17 October 2026)
cantontower.com puts a check in front of its pages that our reader could not pass, so we read the copy that the Internet Archive saved on 15 October 2025. That is the real official page but not today's version.

Ticket prices: two unofficial sites compared
The official pages do not show prices, so we set two unofficial sites side by side. Neither says when it last checked the counter, so use the figures as a rough range only.
| Ticket | China For Travelers | China Travel (updated 17 Apr 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Observation room, 433 m | about CNY 135 (about CNY 75 for children or concessions) | CNY 150 |
| Outdoor platform, 450 m | CNY 228 | CNY 228 |
| Combination with the 460 m Ferris wheel | about CNY 283 | CNY 298 |
| 488 m platform | included in the larger combination below | CNY 328 |
| Large combination, 488 m plus rides | about CNY 398 | CNY 398 |
They agree on CNY 228 for the 450 m platform and CNY 398 for the large combination. For the 433 m room and the Ferris wheel combination, they are CNY 15 apart. We cannot tell which is newer, so check the price in the official booking system or the seller you choose.
China Travel says the Ferris wheel and drop rides open at about 10:00 and later on Mondays. That is unofficial.

Getting there
The nearest stop is Canton Tower metro station. According to China Travel (unofficial), from Guangzhou South high-speed station you take Line 7 to Hanxi Changlong, change to Line 3 and get off at Canton Tower Exit A, about 40 minutes for CNY 5. A taxi takes about 40 minutes for about CNY 55, per the same site. Wikivoyage mentions the Zhujiang New Town automated people mover, which ends at the tower.
From Hong Kong, the XRL train to Guangzhou South costs HK$250 second class on the MTR fare chart for trains from 11 October 2026. The details are in the city guide.

When to go
China Travel suggests sunset, about 17:00 to 18:30, to see both daylight and the night lights, and says the tower lights usually run from about 19:00 to 23:00, with mist at the top in rain or thick cloud (unofficial). Wikivoyage says October and November are Guangzhou's best months and advises avoiding China's long public holidays because of crowds.

Nearby
The tower stands on the south bank of the Pearl River, opposite Zhujiang New Town, the business district. See the districts table in the city guide and the Tianhe and Zhujiang New Town hotels on where to stay. For a zoo trip, see Chimelong Safari Park. If you are here for the trade fair, see the Canton Fair page.

Frequently asked questions
What time does Canton Tower open?
The official site says 9:30 to 22:30, per the archived copy from October 2025. Check the booking system before you go, since some rides open at different times.
How much is a ticket?
We could not open prices on the official site. Two unofficial sites agree on CNY 228 for the 450 m outdoor platform but give CNY 135 and CNY 150 for the 433 m room.
Which level should I choose?
The glass rooms at 428 and 433 m are inside the tower, away from the wind. The 450 and 488 m platforms are open-air. China For Travelers says parts of the 450 m platform are partly blocked by structure; that is its opinion, not an official statement.
Where do I buy tickets?
The official booking system is at mallpc.cantontower.com. Overseas intermediaries such as KKday also sell entry; the price and terms are theirs, so read the redemption terms first.
How do I get there from Guangzhou South?
China Travel says Line 7 to Hanxi Changlong, then Line 3 to Canton Tower Exit A, about 40 minutes and CNY 5.
How long should I allow?
We have no official visit time. Our suggestion is 2 to 3 hours for the views alone, and more if you ride the attractions.
When was this checked?
On 17 October 2026, from an archived copy of the official site (October 2025) and two unofficial sites. Prices and hours can change.
How this compares
We opened China Highlights' Guangzhou guide, Lonely Planet's Guangzhou page and China Travel's tower page. China Highlights and Lonely Planet mention the tower inside a city overview without opening hours or ticket prices; China Travel gives a price table but does not say when it checked the counter. This page gives the official facts we could read (hours, address, capacity, decks), then sets two unofficial price lists side by side so you can see that they disagree, rather than picking one as the official price.
Links on this page and our earnings
The ticket search box on this page opens the provider's own search page. As of 17 October 2026 we have no registered affiliate link for Canton Tower tickets and earn nothing from them yet. Our disclosure page explains how affiliate links work and what we never do.
