ICONSIAM is the riverside mall on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, home of the indoor SookSiam "floating market", a nightly fountain show and a long list of luxury and local shops. The short answer: the mall's own Getting Here page lists opening hours of 10:00 to 22:00 every day, there is no entrance charge, and the classic way in is BTS to Saphan Taksin and then the mall's shuttle boat from Sathorn pier. One thing to know before you go: that official page labels the shuttle "Fare Applies", while many travel blogs still call it free.
We read the official ICONSIAM pages on 2026-10-16. The mall does not publish the boat fare on those pages, so we do not quote one. The tables below show what the mall says and where other sources disagree.

| Shuttle boat (conflict) | "Free", every 10 to 15 minutes | Third-party English guides; a 2018 Thai news article gave 08:00-23:30 and every 10 minutes |
| Fountain show | Daily at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00 | Official event page, 2026-10-16 |
| Fountain show (conflict) | 18:00, 19:00 and 21:00; or 19:00 and 20:00 | Older Thai news and a third-party guide |
We treat the official page as the best current reading. Old posts about free boats, 08:00 starts and 10-minute frequency come from earlier years, and a 2018 opening-week article lists four boat piers where the current official page lists two. Ask at the pier or at the information desk before you board, and keep a little change for the fare.
Opening times, boat fares and show times change, and the sources above do not agree. The official page is the best reading as of 2026-10-16; confirm at the pier and on the mall's own channels.
How to get to ICONSIAM
The mall's Getting Here page lists these routes. The mall sits on the Thonburi side of the river, so the river or the Gold Line is the easy way across.
| Route | What the mall says |
|---|---|
| BTS to Saphan Taksin, then shuttle boat | Leave BTS Saphan Taksin by Exit 2 and continue by the ICONSIAM shuttle boat from Sathorn pier (09:00-23:00 daily, fare applies) |
| BTS Gold Line | Get off the BTS at Krung Thon Buri Exit 3, change to the Gold Line, and ride to Charoennakorn station |
| Shuttle boat from Si Phraya pier | 09:00-23:00 daily, fare applies |
| Chao Phraya Express Boat (orange flag) | Route Nonthaburi to Rajsingkorn; Monday to Friday 06:00-19:00; Saturday, Sunday and public holidays "temporarily suspended" |
| City bus | Lines 6, 4-35, 111, 89, 120, 149, 84, 88, 3, 105 and 505 as listed by the mall |
| Hotel boats | The Siam, Royal Orchid Sheraton, The Peninsula Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental, Baan Chao Praya and Banyan Tree Residences run service boats for guests |
| Car | On-site parking; fees in the table below |
If you are starting from the airport, Bangkok airport to the city lists the rail links, and the Bangkok BTS and MRT guide explains the fare cards and how to reach Saphan Taksin. The orange-flag express boat does not run at weekends, so do not plan a Saturday trip around it.

Parking
| Spend in the mall | Parking, per the mall |
|---|---|
| No purchase | Free for the first 2 hours; 30 baht per hour for hours 3 to 6; 60 baht per hour from hour 7 |
| 500 baht or more | Free for 4 hours (including the first 2); then 30 baht per hour for hours 5 to 6; 60 baht per hour from hour 7 |
| 1,000 baht or more | Free for 6 hours; 60 baht per hour from hour 7 |
| 2,000 baht or more | Free for 8 hours; 60 baht per hour from hour 9 |
Evening traffic around Charoen Nakhon Road is slow. For most visitors the boat or the Gold Line is easier than a taxi.
What to see at ICONSIAM
- SookSiam. The official Attraction page describes it as a cultural destination gathering food, handicrafts and folk arts from all 77 provinces of Thailand, organised around the four regions of the country. Third-party guides place it on the ground level and describe boats set in a pool, which is what you see in our photos. We could not find a floor number or separate opening hours on the official pages, so assume the mall's 10:00-22:00 and check individual stalls.
- The ICONIC Multimedia Water Features. The mall's event page calls it Southeast Asia's longest fountain show, with water jets rising up to 35 metres along a stretch of more than 400 metres of river frontage, set to music and light. It runs daily at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00, and the page gives the run as 25 Dec 2022 to 31 Dec 2026.
- ICONSIAM Park and River Park. The official page describes ICONSIAM Park as a green space with a river view on the 2nd floor, and River Park as an open-air riverside space of more than 10,000 square metres used for events.
- Shopping. The shopping page groups the mall into ICONLUXE (global luxury stores), ICONCRAFT (Thai artisans) and the department and lifestyle stores, with a supermarket and leisure floors.
- Events. The mall runs seasonal events (the Songkran and kite festivals are on its calendar), and the event page of the day lists dates.

The mall describes itself as a development of 55 billion baht by three Thai groups. That context is useful if you wonder why a shopping mall also carries a park, a performance hall and a floating-market recreation: it was planned as a destination, not only a store.
A simple evening plan
- 16:30: Ride BTS to Saphan Taksin and walk to Sathorn pier (ICONSIAM boat after Exit 2).
- 17:00: Cross the river to ICONSIAM and walk the riverside terrace for sunset light.
- 17:30: Eat at SookSiam or one of the restaurants listed on the official dining page.
- 19:00 or 20:00: Watch a fountain show; arrive about 20 minutes early for a spot at the rail.
- 21:30: Take the boat back before the last departure, then go on to dinner or home.
The two riverside evenings fit together: see Asiatique The Riverfront for a second night-market option on the same shuttle-boat route. For daytime sights read the Bangkok 3-day plan, the Wat Pho guide and Bangkok temples and Chao Phraya cruises compared. The ordinary express boat and the cruise boats stop at piers across the river; the comparison page shows which boat suits which plan.

When to go
The mall is air-conditioned, so it works in the heat of the day or in rain. For the fountain and sunset, go on a weekday if you can: guides report crowds on weekends and holidays. Our best time to visit Bangkok page explains the rainy and hot months.
Safety and small cautions
- Check the boat fare. Ask at the pier; do not rely on an older post that says it is free.
- Weekend express boats. The orange-flag boat is suspended on weekends and holidays per the mall.
- Taxis at the pier. Touts at Saphan Taksin may offer a "shortcut". Use the mall's marked boat or a metered taxi.
- Emergency numbers. 191 police, 1669 medical, 1155 Tourist Police. See Thailand safety, scams and health.

We have no registered booking link that fits ICONSIAM, because the mall sells no entrance ticket and we did not find a ticket product for it in our registered partners, so this page carries no booking box. Check Bangkok attraction tickets for tickets elsewhere in the city and Thailand budget per day for a trip budget.
Where to stay near ICONSIAM
Riverside hotels such as those with their own boats suit this stop; otherwise stay near a BTS station and use Saphan Taksin. See where to stay in Bangkok, plan data with Thailand eSIM vs SIM, and read Thailand getting around for trains, taxis and boats. The Bangkok hub lists every guide.
FAQ
What time does ICONSIAM open and close?
The official Getting Here page lists 10:00 to 22:00 every day (checked 2026-10-16). Some restaurants, the cinema and individual shops keep their own hours.
Is there a free shuttle boat to ICONSIAM?
Many guides say free, but the mall's own Getting Here page lists the shuttle from Sathorn and Si Phraya piers as "Fare Applies" (09:00-23:00) without a price. Ask at the pier.
How do I get to ICONSIAM from BTS Saphan Taksin?
Take Exit 2 and follow the signs to Sathorn pier, where the ICONSIAM shuttle boat leaves. The crossing is short, and guides put it at about 10 minutes.
Can I take the Gold Line to ICONSIAM?
Yes. The mall says to change at BTS Krung Thon Buri (Exit 3) to the Gold Line and get off at Charoennakorn station.
What time is the ICONSIAM fountain show?
The official event page lists 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00 daily, with the run ending 31 Dec 2026. Older sources list different times, so arrive early and ask.
What is SookSiam?
A themed indoor market bringing food, crafts and folk arts from all 77 provinces under one roof, with boats displayed on water. It is inside the mall, so it follows the mall's hours.
How much is parking?
Free for the first 2 hours, then 30 baht per hour up to the 6th hour and 60 baht per hour from the 7th; spending 500, 1,000 or 2,000 baht extends the free time to 4, 6 or 8 hours.
Is ICONSIAM worth visiting if I do not shop?
Yes for the river views, SookSiam food and the fountain show, none of which needs a ticket. Allow 2 to 4 hours.
